Fight Night Champion for the iPhone Lets You Become Champion of the Wooorrrrrld

A couple of weeks ago, NBA Jam was released and it literally blew my socks off. Seriously – I have no idea where the socks I was wearing that day went and they were my lucky rainbow socks with individual toes. That’s besides the point as another big name sports game has made the jump to the iPhone: Fight Night Champion.

If you’re a console gamer, then the Fight Night name will probably be familiar with you. The game strikes an even balance between a boxing simulation & arcade game that’s fun for both boxing game veterans as well as newcomers. Fight Night Champion for iPhone features 20 current boxing champions like David Haye, but also heavyweight legends such as Mike Tyson and Muhammad Ali. You’ll also be able to fight as notable fighters like Manny Pacquiao, Roy Jones Jr., Bernard Hopkins, or the “The Golden Boy” himself, Oscar De La Hoya.

Fight Night Champion features a legacy mode where you’ll be able to take your fighter up from nothing to something by developing his skills through a number of training sessions and bouts. Your fighter will progress to hopefully become the Champ, but once you’re at the top, you’ll need to defend your belt from other fighters who are dying to get a taste of gold.

The game features fluid touch controls that allow players to perform jabs with a simple touch of the screen as well as gestures to duck and weave out of your opponents attacks. Fight Night Champion for the iPhone also includes a multiplayer mode so you can take on your friends via local Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. Just remember the first rule of Fight Night Champion: Make sure to tell everyone you know that you whooped your opponents butt as soon and as often as possible.  That is, unless you got whooped yourself. Then you can just sulk and call your opponent a cheater.
