Those of you who decided to pass on the T-Mobile G2X in favor of the upcoming HTC Sensation will be happy to hear that the release date of the superphone may have just been leaked by Google. Recently, some people have been reporting that when searching for the device on Google, an ad is displayed which says that the handset will be released on June 8th.
Whether this slip up was intentional or not, the ad has caused quite a stir and has since been removed – as far as we can tell. The June 8th date falls in line with the “early summer” release that T-Mobile mentioned when the handset was announced last week. If you don’t remember, the Sensation sports the new 1.2Ghz dual-core Snapdragon processor, 4.3 inch qHD display, 8 megapixel camera with dual-LED flash that can record in 1080p HD, HSPA+ support, and HTC Sense 3.0 running on top of Android 2.3.2 Gingerbread. The spec sheet of the Sensation is most definitely drool-worthy and just adds to T-Mobile’s stunning lineup of devices that were recently released.
T-Mobile is readying the Sensation to do battle with the likes of the EVO 3D, Thrill 4G and Verizon’s upcoming arsenal of Android devices. Either way, the Sensation has a rather good chance of selling quite well, as it’s sexy, sleek and will be more appealing to those who aren’t sold on 3D in its current form.
If the June 8th date turns out to be true, you have some time to weigh out your options and by the time June hits, you’ll have quite a few. For now, if you’re looking for a dual-core phone on T-Mobile, you’re limited to the G2x and we seriously doubt you’ll have many qualms about it.
Nonetheless, the Sensation will bring a lot to the table, and let’s hope the June 8th date stays true.
