The HTC Incredible 2 and Casio G’zOne Commando arrived today at Verizon Wireless. Noticeably absent was the Samsung Droid Charge which was supposed to land on retail shelves today. According to Verizon Wireless, the launch of the Droid Charge has been delayed.
Reasons for the delay were not provided but many suggest it may be tied to Verizon’s nationwide LTE outage yesterday. Not leaving us totally in the dark, Verizon public relations did confirm “customers have the option of providing store representatives with their contact information and they will be notified when the phone is available for purchase.”
The Charge is a nice addition to Verizon’s 4G handset lineup and may be worth the wait. The Android handset boasts of a gorgeous 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Plus display, 1 GHz processor, rear-facing 8 megapixel camera with LED flash, and front-facing 1.3 megapixel camera for video chat. Also included are:
- 4G LTE connectivity – download speeds of 5 to 12 Mbps and upload speeds of 2 to 5 Mbps
- Support for Google Mobile Services including Gmail, YouTube, Google Maps and more
- HTML 5 compatible browser Adobe Flash Player support
- Mobile Hotspot that supports the sharing of a 4G connection with up to 10 WiFi-enabled devices or a 3G connection with up to 5 devices
- Samsung Media Hub – Films and TV programs for rent or purchase from Samsung’s content service
- Virtual QWERTY Keyboard with Swype
- Android 2.2
When it finally launches, the Droid Charge will set you back $299.99 with a two-year contract.
