Samsung has unveiled an Android app that allows its smart TV sets to work like a Sling Player, allowing users to stream content from their TV to a smartphone. Not all TVs and not all smartphones are supported at the moment.
First it is required that you own the Samsung D7000, D8000 or D9500 series Smart TVs. On the other hand, the application only works with the Galaxy S II with support for other devices — namely Galaxy S and Galaxy Tab — planed for later this year.
Let’s say you do own a compatible TV and smartphone, what can you stream? The answer to that question is EVERYTHING, whether it’s a standard cable TV, a movie playing from your Blu-Ray player, something you recorded on a set-top box… you name it. If you can see that content on your TV, you can beam it to your smartphone as well.
In addition, Smart View can also work like a remote control for TV or Blu-ray player, a game controller, or as a QWERTY keyboard for select Samsung TV apps.
