Last time we talked about Vizio, it was at the CES when the company wowed to enter the smartphone and tablet markets. Then some sites reported spotting the company’s tablet in Walmart’s system and now we’ve caught it clearing the FCC hurdle. In other words, Vizio’s first Android product — VTAB1008 tablet — is inching toward the launch.
Unfortunately, we don’t know anything else except that it will have an HDMI output and Bluetooth support. FCC’s filing is confidential and will remain hidden for the general public until August 30th.
If I had to guess, I would assume the upcoming device will come with “standard for Android” features such as Wi-Fi connectivity, 4 of 8 GB of built-in storage and of course a memory card slot. 3G is also an option, but only if Vizio makes a deal with some carrier.
It’s good to see more companies entering the tablet market as the increased competition will ultimately bring prices down…
