Aside from aggressively pushing smartphones, a big part of Samsung’s mobile business are feature phones. One such device [feature phone] has been launched in South Korea for users who don’t need all the bells and whistles modern smartphones offer. Rather, the SHW-A300 Minimalist Folder is made for folks who need basic texting and calling capabilities, as well as large keys and a big screen. This baby — which BTW will be offered by SK Telecom and KT — comes with a 2.6-inch display, 2-megapixel camera for taking occasional shots, Bluetooth, music player, SOS capability, e-dictionary and a microSD memory card slot. Additionally there’s the “Hyperskin body” that gives the phone a luxurious look and feel, while protecting it from scratches and fingerprints. All this could be yours for 200,000 won which is an equivalent of $185…
I’m sure there’s a market for a product like the Samsung A300, though as you can guess – I’m not in that group. I’m wondering whether we’ll see the Korean giant exporting this phone (or some similar device) to the Western hemisphere…
