If you really wanted a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 but wished it had mobile data connectivity built it, you’ll be happy to know that the Verizon 4G LTE version is now available in preorder. There are a few caveats though.
The first issue is that the Verizon 4G LTE Galaxy Tab 10.1 won’t ship for at least a month, as the company is quoting 4-6 weeks before it will get to you. If you love your gadgets as much as we do, that’s going to be a long, long time to wait.
The second issue that some of you may come up against is price. The Verizon 4G LTE Galaxy Tab 10.1 will start at $529 for the 16 GB model and $629 for the 32 GB version. That’s not much more than the WiFi-only model but these come saddled with two-year contracts.
While the 4G LTE topped a recent speedtest, you’re still looking at another data plan on top of what you pay for your phone. The minimum plan starts at $20 a month for 1 GB of data and it tops out at $80 a month for $10 GB. The lowest tier isn’t that bad really but I’d rather just pay for a hotspot feature on my phone or go with the versatility of a MiFi.
Whatever, that’s just my take, as I do understand how cool it is to have integrated mobile data. Take a look at the View 4G for a good example of that.
