GetGlue, the check-in network for just about everything, has made a significant update to their mobile site. This is great news if you’re packing something other than an iPhone, Android, or BlackBerry, which already have mobile apps available. With it, you can share what movie or TV show you’re watching, what music you’re listening, what wine you’re drinking, what video game you’re playing, and lots more. Updates can be shunted out to Facebook or Twitter, or you can get cozy with the GetGlue community itself and see what your friends are up to, leave comments, rate, and review types of entertainment, as well as get suggestions based on previous check-ins.
GetGlue is much like other mobile check-in networks that reward you for checking in to certain things at certain times, but GetGlue is special for covering such a broad range of subject matter. I use it mostly for sharing what video games I play, but they offer a lot of custom rewards for watching TV shows or movies on launch day. Many stickers are limited time, but once you amass 20 of the virtual rewards, you can have GetGlue ship you real ones to plaster whereever you want.
I had spent a lot of time with the GetGlue mobile site before they launched their BlackBerry app, and it was pretty bare-bones. That said, this is a huge improvement in the looks department. It would be nice if you could use location for simultaneous Foursquare check-ins, but that web app claim to fame lies solely with Untappd for now. It took awhile for GetGlue to get into location, but since Foursquare and (to a lesser extent) Gowalla have pretty much locked that space down, there wasn’t any rush to get involved.
