Looks like the Thrill 4G may be coming sooner than we thought. Starting today, Radio Shack will begin to take pre-orders for the hot new glasses-free 3D phone for AT&T and it may launch on August 7th.

While the HTC EVO 3D has a superior, qHD display, the Thrill 4G (Optimus 3D) offers much more 3D content. The dedicated 3D button on the Thrill 4G alone one-ups the EVO 3D, which only has a dedicated switch for switching the camera from 3D to 2D. Nonetheless, both handsets are stupid-powerful and we’ll soon see more of them in the coming months.

Starting today, you should be able to walk into a Radio Shack and pre-order the Thrill 4G by dropping $50 down on a gift card. This will secure your handset purchase and you’ll get first dibs on launch day, which looks to be on the 7th. Surprisingly enough, from the looks of the screenshots, you won’t have to shell out the standard $200 for the Thrill 4G. Far from it. Apparently the handset will sell for a mere $80 with a new contract, which is basically unheard of for a handset of its caliber. Hell, even if the pricing didn’t include the $50 gift card, you’d still only pay up $130.

The the pricing of the Thrill 4G remains true, we’d have a very hard time thinking that the handset won’t sell well. It’s TI OMAP dual-core processor makes it insanely fast and it ships with a handful of games to get your 3D on. The only thing we could really wish that the Thrill 4G had was a higher resolution display and we did see some discoloration when at certain angles. Nonetheless, with all of the features the Thrill 4G offers combined with the $80 price tag, you just can’t go wrong.

If you’re looking for 3D and just so happen to be on a budget, you still have an option, oddly enough. Let’s hope that the release date and the price tag hold true, though.
