Who is TabCo? That’s the question that the company wants you to be asking and it just released another teaser video of its upcoming tablet which shows off its brand new operating system.
We’ve covered TabCo before because we’re always interested to see new competitors in the rapidly-growing tablet space. So far, it’s just been some very brief glimpses of the devices, some viral videos which don’t reveal much and a delicious pizza that was sent to my house.
The latest video touches upon the new OS which has been referred to as the “aha! OS” and it should be based on a wheel-like interface. Previously, the company told me that it will have elements of the semantic web in it but I’m still waiting to see how this actually works in real life. Additionally, a tablet is actually pretty boring without a steady amount of apps and we know absolutely nothing about TabCo’s tablet strategy. The video below offers a slight glimpse at that, as there’s a brief moment in the video where you see the Facebook, Pandora and the LinkedIn app icons.
Previous posts about TabCo gave rise to the conspiracy that this whole company is just a giant marketing stunt for a larger company like Nokia or Motorola because it has been spending a lot of money on promotions. It did some skywriting over San Francisco during WWDC and it has been the top promoted tweet on Twitter at least two times – that doesn’t cost millions of dollars but it does seem like money that a true hardware startup may have to dedicate to other resources.
Either way, TabCo will be showing off its product to us next Monday, so we’ll get this all figured out soon enough.
