Glam Media is diving into the mobile advertising space and going after iOS with the launch of GlamMobile, a global advertising platform that has been optimized for these mobile devices.

Along with the GlamMobile ad network, it is also introducing GlamEnable, which offers tools for publishers to create their own native iPhone and Android apps or to help these content producers create strong mobile sites. That could be a very useful tool because we know full well how difficult and expensive getting a proper mobile site going can be.

The advertising platform is pretty much what you would expect, as it enables brands to reach all the major smartphone platforms and it includes video and rich-media elements, as well as social components.

“Mobile is a very powerful medium and the future of digital brand advertising is the ability to run deeply integrated and social campaigns across desktop and mobile,” said Samir Arora, Glam Media Chairman and CEO, in a prepared statement. “With the introduction of GlamMobile, marketers can more effectively deliver super premium ads that are highly engaging to the right audience at the right time throughout the course of their digital lifestyle.”

The story gets a little bit more intriguing now that the head of Apple’s iAd program is leaving. Despite a high-profile launch, we continue to hear that Apple’s mobile advertising platform is struggling. Other mobile advertising businesses do appear to be booming though, so it looks like a nice move from Glam.
