It took a while, but Google’s Blogger app for iOS is here

Apple’s iOS has been in desperate need of a good app for the Blogger platform and finally, Google is bringing a free, official app to the iPhone and iPod touch that can hopefully solve the issue. It’s somewhat bare bones, but hey, it gets the job done and the design is at least decent.

The app allows you to write new blog posts and publish instantly or save as a draft. Any drafts you type up on your computer as well as all previously published posts appear in the app for editing. The publisher allows for new photos or stored ones from the camera library to be added to posts and it supports adding location and labels as well.

I’m a former Blogger user and I always wanted a decent app on my iPhone. In February, when Google released the app for Android exclusively, I was furious. The announcement specifically said that an iPhone app was in the works, so I patiently waited for some time.

I stopped using Blogger a few months ago for various reasons. Seven months after the Android app, the iPhone app finally makes its debut long after I have a need for it. Plus, they are only three years behind WordPress. Excellent work.

Still, if you’re interested in checking out the new app for iPhone and iPod touch, I must warn you it’s only compatible with iOS 3.2 and up. I imagine that’s not too much of a problem though. As for Blogger users who own an iPad, unfortunately, your time has not come yet.

Let’s see what happens in another seven months.
