We’ve been hearing about Facebook’s iPad app for quite some time and now Mashable has learned it will be unveiled at Apple’s iPhone 5 launch event on October 4th. What’s more, the social network will also introduce a revamped iPhone application and possibly an HTML5-based mobile app marketplace. The last part is not confirmed but it helps us understand Facebook’s plans.
In related news, we recently told you about Facebook engineer Jeff Verkoeyen who left the company only to join Google. Apparently, one of the reasons is that he wasn’t happy with Facebook’s decision to postpone the launch of the iPad app even though it was completed in May.
So how do we see this? For one thing, it looks like Apple is teaming-up with Facebook to go against Google. Of course, Facebook will still need to constantly update its app for Android, but it looks like Cupertino will get the code before everyone else. For the time being, Google is definitely a threat for both companies having recently launched its own social network – Google+.
