Verizon and Motorola have a strong relationship, as Moto was the first handset to kick off the uber-popular Droid lineup and the two companies are teaming up again for a special event Oct. 18. The invitation doesn’t give away much but we’re expecting some nice hardware.
The invitation simply says, “Faster. Thinner. Smarter. Stronger.” on it and if I were betting dollars to doughnuts, I’d say we’re going to see the Droid Razr. Most of you out there should remember how cool the original Motorola Razr was (at least the design) but the rumors on the new one suggest we’re in for a treat.
While we probably won’t get the clamshell design, we should be getting a Android 2.3.5 (Gingerbread), a qHD screen (960×540), along with a powerful OMAP4430 clocked at 1.2 GHz and Verizon always loves to add devices which can support Verizon 4G LTE. There could be other surprises too, so keep your eyes locked on IntoMobile, as we’ll be there live.
Marc made a note to say that the venue the event is in is actually quite huge, so let’s hope Motorola brings the heat.
Update: Those wonderful folks at Engadget believe it will be the Motorola Spyder that we’ve seen before because, well, Motorola labeled the invite image “spyderlaunchinvite.” Heck, we may even see that updated Xoom we’ve been hearing so much about.
Here’s the teaser video too:
