AT&T and Samsung will most likely release another Android update for the Captivate smartphone, or at least a new Gingerbread leak suggests so. The UCKJ1 build won’t make your Galaxy S outperform the brand-new Galaxy S II, but it will certainly make things run smoother. Not sure how smoother, but you can test for yourself and breath some new life to the aging Captivate.
Since this isn’t the official ROM update, not everyone should proceed. Some tech knowledge is required so if you’re not sure what you’re doing – it’s suggested you wait for Samsung and AT&T to release the firmware update over the air. In any case, even when the firmware gets to the official channels, you should backup all the data prior to proceeding… just in case something goes wrong.
