University of Phoenix gets an Android app, too

After crossing the 100,000 downloads mark in the AppStore, University of Phoenix decided to release a version of its mobile application for Android smartphones. Also available as a free download, it allows students to participate in online classroom discussion forums even when they’re off from their computers. For instance, users can:

  • Draft and post to discussion threads, and reply to their classmates’ posts
  • View, edit and save drafts of their discussion posts
  • View message flags, discussion questions and class announcements
  • Receive real-time alerts when grades are posted
  • Receive real-time alerts when an instructor posts new threads or responds to messages

Kinda neat, especially for folks who are balancing school, work and family responsibilities, and don’t have the time to sit in front of their laptop…
