If you’re looking for a Verizon 4G LTE phone with a full QWERTY keyboard, the Samsung Stratosphere 4G is your only game in town. Considered part of the Galaxy S lineup, the Verizon Stratosphere 4G is finally in our hands and we gave it a quick look.
The 4-inch Super AMOLED screen is nice, bright and responsive but some of us have grown spoiled with the Retina Display and the glory that is the Super AMOLED Plus screens. Still, for the majority of users, the Samsung Stratosphere display will be more than adequate. The four standard Android buttons are on the face and these capacitive buttons are fairly responsive.
Of course, the main appeal of this device is the 4G LTE and the full QWERTY keyboard. I’ve found the keyboard is laid out nicely, has more than enough space between the keys and I always love a fifth row dedicated to numbers. Still, I’ve found that I would have liked a bit more travel back on the keys and for these to be raised a little bit more.
As with other 4G LTE phones, we’ve found that the Samsung Stratosphere can get some blazing fast mobile speeds and we’re hoping the larger frame of this device to support the keyboard also means we’ll get a larger battery. The soft plastic backing of the device feels nice in your hand and I’m anxious to see how 5-megapixel camera performs in real life.
