The market of 7-inch Android tablets is heating up with Stream TV Networks announcing its own such product – eLocity A7+. In its press release, the company compares its baby with Amazon’s Kindle Fire and Barnes & Noble’s Nook Tablet, saying the eLocity A7+ is an “appealing alternative.”
Available for $229.99, the new tablet comes with a 7-inch 1024×600 pixels touchscreen, NVidia’s Tegra 2 dual-core processor, 512MB of RAM, USB port, 4GB of built-in storage, 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera, Wi-Fi, stereo speakers, HDMI out and a memory card slot. Unfortunately, Android 2.2 Froyo (rather than Gingerbread of Honeycomb) is running the show, though we hope to see an update released in the near future.
All said, I’m not sure I would pick the eLocity A7+ over Amazon’s or B&N’s tablet. The competing products offer a more integrated experience and are more tailored to readers, which are the primary market for those two devices. What do you say?
