Well, it looks like the mythical HTC tablet dubbed the Quattro is finally getting its close up. The Quattro is a beastly quad-core, 10.1-inch, Android-powered slate with a 1280 x 768 resolution, which is comparable to the iPad 2’s 1024 x 768 resolution screen. Other noteworthy features include:
- 1GB of RAM
- 16GB internal storage plus microSD expansion
- Bluetooth 4.0, 5GHz Wi-Fi
- Beats Audio (perhaps?)
- Rumored 2-megapixel rear facing camera with 1080p HD video recording support
- 1.3-megapixel front facing camera with 720p HD video support
- Scribe pen input technology
- 9 mm thin
This quad-core wonder tablet may also pack a HD version of the HTC Watch movie store along with a complementary Dropbox account for extra storage and flexibility. This news shouldn’t come to anyone’s surprise because lots of manufacturers are lining up to deliver their version of an Android quad-core slate. A few days ago pictures leaked of a 10.1-inch tablet from Lenovo.
Now a couple of things before we get too excited. First, we must understand that the Quattro is clearly a codename, so don’t expect for the name to stick when the device actually ships. Second, we can expect for this bad boy to ship in early 2012, perhaps unveiled during CES in January. Regardless, early 2012 will be an exciting year for those looking to get their hands on the latest Android tablets running Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.
