We’ve been seeing a lot of the Sony Ericsson Arc HD, code-named Nozomi, but it may have a smaller, nearly-identical brother called the Nypon. The only telling difference between the above picture and those we had seen earlier is the placement of the front-facing camera; otherwise, it has the same stark, blocky design, and single silver band for navigation keys.
While the Nozomi has a 4.3-inch 1280 x 720 touchscreen, the Nypon LT22i here will only be 4 inches and 960 x 540 resolution – which by any everyday consumer’s standard is still pretty freakin’ sweet. In fact, I’d be willing to to go for the Nypon if it meant a lower pricetag and better battery life. Unfortunately, we don’t have any more details beyond that. The difference in processing power will be the clincher for power users. With any luck, Sony Ericsson will manage to squeeze out something with a dual-core processor in 2012.
One unforseen bonus of Sony buying out Ericsson’s stake in the joint venture: we’ll get to see more badass-sounding Japanese codenames like Nypon and Nozomi. CES is right around the corner, so here’s hoping either one of these beauts makes an appearance.
