I know this might seem like quite the stretch, but it just over 20 years ago when arcades ruled as the premier spot to get your gaming on as home consoles and handheld devices didn’t even come close to what was possible at the arcade. With the inevitable advancement of mobile devices, gaming consoles, and computers, the Arcade nowadays is seen more as a relic. I for one have very fond memories heading to a local arcade and wish there was a place worthwhile near my area that I could sink a ton of quarters into and feel like I had a worthwhile gaming experience. Seeing as that’ll never happen, I might as well relive the glory days of the arcade through Warner Bros. latest app, Midway Arcade.
Back in the day, Midway was one of the most popular arcade manufacturers as they released hit after hit in the arcades. The Midway Arcade app allows you to take a trip down memory lane in a virtual arcade with Midway games as far as the eye can see. Well, as far as the walls of the arcade will allow anyways.
The price of admission to the Midway Arcade is only $.99 and gives you complete access to the virtual arcade that players will navigate by moving from arcade machine to arcade machine. You’ll be able to play the following games from the get-go:
- Spy Hunter
- Rampage
- Defender
- Joust
- Root Beer Tapper
- Arch Rivals
- Skill-based Games (Pool, Air Hockey, Roll Ball and Basketball)
If you want more out of your Midway Arcade experience, you’ll be able to purchase more games through in-app purchase for only $.99 each. The games packs that are available for in-app purchase are:
Fantasy Game Pack
- Gauntlet
- Gauntlet II
- Wizard of Wor
Action Game Pack
- APB
- NARC
- Total Carnage
The Midway Arcade App also rewards players with tickets that can be redeemed for virtual prizes and fully supports Game Center with achievements and online leaderboards. If you’re an old-school gamer like me or are curious to experience games that came before what you’re currently playing, then I recommend you check out this app and either relive the glory days of the local arcade or experience what it was like in its heyday.
