Sprint today announced a new entry-level smartphone called the ZTE Fury. The Fury will be available March 11 for just $20 on contract, and it is billed as The Now Network’s family-friendly Android device. New subscribers can expect the addition of some optional features such as Sprint’s Family Locator, mobile usage controls (which locks down text messages) and Sprint Drive First — all for a small fee.
Breaking down the rest of the phone you have a handset that sports a 3.5-inch display, 5-megapixel camera with flash, 3G mobile hotspot, 4GB of internal storage with an expandable memory slot supporting up to 32GB, and Android 2.3 Gingerbread — all powered by a 1GHz Qualcomm MSM8655 Snapdragon processor. The ZTE Fury is also a Sprint ID device, so you can theme it with any number of Sprint ID packs.
The third largest cell phone service provider in the United States believes the presence of the budget-friendly device fills a void on its roster of cost efficient handsets, which the company feels is something families need. A Sprint exec in the press release said, “Providing affordable, Android-powered devices, like ZTE Fury, in our lineup helps give families the tools and information to better manage their wireless usage while still providing the style and functionality they need to keep up with their busy lives.”
