Wolfram|Alpha for iOS can now take an image as input

There’s a new add-on for the Wolfram|Alpha app for iOS that allows you take an image as input and “process” it with the popular app/service. Available as in-app purchase of $0.99, it can either work with photos from your Camera Roll or pictures taken on the fly and input them directly into Wolfram|Alpha. The application on its end can then provide analysis of your photo, allow you to add filters, detect features, perform color processing, and apply image effects. Pretty cool stuff, right?

But that’s not all, existing features like weather and consumer product queries also received an update. For instance, a query for the weather will provide a more graphical output, and a query for a consumer product will come with links to purchase the items directly from Best Buy…

I love Wolfram|Alpha and can’t wait for the day to get it on my Android smartphone. That said I’m not sure why it takes so long to bring such an app to one of the world’s most popular mobile platforms…
