So you want an external screen for your smartphone? Most of today’s mobile devices come with HDMI out, allowing you to connect them to a TV. On the other hand, you may want something more portable, something you will be able to carry around wherever you go.
Enter GeChic On-Lap 1302, a 13.3-inch 1366×768 pixels external monitor that can work with a number of different devices, smartphones included. Using a number of cables and adapters, it will give you a big-screen experience — i.e. you’ll need Apple’s Digital AV Adapter for the iPhone or an MHL to HDMI solution for Android smartphones.
The problem, however, is that this installation is everything but mobile and everything but seamless. I would expect an external monitor to work like Padfone – simply put your smartphone on the back of the tablet device and see the magic happening. It should be that easy…
Anyway, you can see the GeChic On-Lap 1302 in action from a demo video below. Decide for yourself whether it’s really “best idea ever” and if you think like that, you’ll care to know that Newegg will start selling these next month for $199.
