Mr. Number once again updated its Android app, this time with a bold goal – to replace the default dialer and SMS apps. Available as a free download, the application makes managing of your “real social network” (people who you call and text often) easier to “manage” by organizing all conversations and contacts, and keeping track of who is most important, identifying unknown numbers, and blocking people and companies that you don’t want to hear from again.
I dig the idea that something could be done with the phone and SMS apps, but will Mr. Number succeed in this? It’s not that easy to make people replace their usual apps, no matter how better new solution is.
Anyway, here’s what Mr. Number offers to its users:
- Ability to see and respond to all calls and texts in one inbox with multiple views, including a gallery of all the picture messages they’ve ever shared.
- Crowd-sourced Caller ID.
- Ability to keep track of the contacts you text most often, who you need to call back, and who you haven’t spoken to recently.
- Block the people and companies you don’t want to hear from again, every known telemarketer and phone spammer in the US included.
- Let friends know when you’re free to talk and when you are sending all calls to voicemail.
So are you willing to dump default phone and text apps for Mr. Number? At least give it a try?
