Sonos is killing its CR200 remote control and replacing it with your smartphone, says a report in The Verge. Sonos CEO and founder John MacFarlane told The Verge, “We knew from the early days of the iPhone explosion that controlling out system from the device that people were carrying around in their pockets is what we wanted.”
Besides convenience, price is also a major factor that contributed to the demise of the $349 controller. Not too many people coughed up the dough to buy the controller when a smartphone of similar price could control your Sonos system and more.
