More and more companies are experimenting with augmented reality and Marvel wants to join this trend, too. Their new app, Marvel AR, was developed in partnership with Aurasma to create a whole new comic book experience. Dubbed “ReEvolution,” Marvel’s idea is to bridge the gap between the traditional comic books and modern smartphone technologies, offering something extra to loyal readers.

The first comic to get this treatment is already out (Avengers Vs. X-Men #1), packing an additional content that is available only through the Marvel AR app. For instance, when you trigger the app and point the camera to a Marvel AR logo, you will be able to access different kind of content like an animation depicting the evolution of the drawing on the page, or see the creators themselves walking across the page giving insights into the Marvel universe.

Sounds cool and we’re certain this is just a start, with many subsequent comic books incorporating augmented reality technology. Love it. 😉
