Ting wants to pay for your mobile contract’s early termination fee

Ting, the new mobile network I personally called the one “we’ve all been waiting for” and is self-proclaimed “Mobile That Makes Sense,” launched a sweepstakes that wants to pay for your early termination fee so you can release the shackles and join Ting.

It’s called Dump Your Contract Month and it’s a very straightforward contest. Every day during the month of May, Ting will pick one lucky winner who entered and will pay up to $300 for the person to cancel the contact with their current mobile carrier and buy a phone with Ting, which is always contract-free. By the end of May, the maximum Ting will have paid in prizes is $9,300.

The information required to enter isn’t a pain in the ass like in some other sweepstakes when they want to know about everything you’ve ever done in life. No, Ting simply asks for your first and last name, email address, which carrier you’re subscribed to now, and when your contract expires. You must be at least 18 years or older to enter. Since there is a new winner every day, you can enter the sweepstakes every day, but you can only win once.

Ting is a unique mobile phone service in that you only have to pay per month for what you actually use. There’s no data caps or unlimited plans. There’s just tiers of minutes, texts, and data. For instance, if you use a very small amount of minutes in any month, you’ll pay the lowest amount, but if you use a lot, you’ll pay one of the top tiers. There’s no funny business going on and no contracts so you can buy a new phone at any time — albeit for a higher price than what you’d pay with a contract elsewhere, but you end up saving money in the long run.

Stop reading this and enter the Dump Your Contract Month sweepstakes already, or review the official rules.
