The Verge is saying that AT&T has abandoned its plans to release the Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket HD and leave room for the brand new Galaxy S III. Samsung’s Ryan Bidan explained that it simply didn’t make sense in light of the Galaxy S III announcement — it’s hard to justify an updated 720p version of the existing Skyrocket with the new (improved) product on the horizon.
Samsung announced that Galaxy S III will hit the U.S. in June and as far as we can tell this is the first confirmation, though not official, that AT&T will be one of the mobile operators to offer Sammy’s latest superphone. Moreover, I would expect other networks to join the party too — after all the Galaxy S II is still available across all major operators in the country and I see no reason why that wouldn’t be the case with the new Galaxy S as well. Needless to say, we’ll let you know as soon as we hear anything new on this. Stay tuned in the meantime…
