Talpic app enters the ever crowded multimedia sharing market

Talpic is a new iOS and Android app (at least I haven’t heard of it before) that targets the ever-competitive multimedia sharing market. Their twist is to go beyond photos and allow users to also include sounds to the mix.

Available as a free download, the application lets you view, listen, share and recommend pictures and sounds from your and other people’s lives. Pictures are divided into six different categories including Wow!, Mesmerizing, Cute, Funny, Heart Warming and Others; while Sounds’ categories include Funny, Inspire, Stories, Music, Cool and Others. Of course, the familiar “liking” mechanism is also there and it’s used to determine which content goes on the top of search/browse results…

Now that’s all cool, but I’m not sure we need another such social network. Don’t get me wrong, Talpic has all of the right features, but as we all know, it takes much more (including the right timing) to make social network reach the tipping point. In any case, you can’t lose a lot for trying out Talpic. Let us know if it works for you.
