Sony is looking to get back in the US smartphone game in the worst way. Today the company announced three versions of its Xperia NXT smartphones, the Xperia S, Xperia P, and Xperia U for the US. The great part about is that Sony selling them unlocked through its own online store and retail partner Newegg.com.
Furthermore, these handsets will feature Sony’s Bravia-powered Reality Display and dual-core processing, which customers might enjoy. The Xperia devices are priced accordingly, as the lower-end U is $299, the mid-level P at $479.99, and the flagship Xperia S model at $599. Those interested will have the choice between the usual black or white, but with the P model, you get to decide between the colors silver, red, or black.
Being that it’s sold unlocked, you should be able to use it on both AT&T and T-Mobile, albeit, the T-Mo version will get to use 2G/EDGE.
Back at MWC 2012, our very own Dusan Belic had a hands-on with the Xperia P, and his overall impressions were that it was a nice phone, but not a great one. Anyway, if you’re interested in the P or the other versions, head over to sony.com/nxt.
