Looks like Huawei is looking to enter the nascent phablet market, currently dominated by Samsung and its Galaxy Note devices (though LG is also experimenting with the Optimus Vu). The Chinese company is apparently working on something similar and while we don’t have an image to show you, we’re hearing that the Ascend Mate will be more powerful than what other companies are offering, packing a 6.1-inch 1080p screen and Huawei’s own 1.8GHz quad-core K3V3 CPU. The rumor goes on suggesting that the 9.9mm-thick Ascend Mate will also comes with 2GB of RAM and more-than-decent 4,000mAh battery.
Personally I never like phablets as they are too big for me, but I know some people love ’em. And now I’m wondering how big these things can get – device with a 6.1-inch screen is practically a tablet in my book. What do you say?
