Apple’s next update is rumored to be iOS 6.1, and it’ll carry some cool additions to the popular mobile platform. The new version of iOS is going to bring a feature to Siri that’ll allow users to buy movie tickets from Fandango, according to developers beta testing the upcoming firmware upgrade. All iOS users have to do is ask their iDevice to buy a ticket to a particular movie they’re interested in seeing. Siri will do the rest.
The folks over at 9to5Mac were able to get the scoop. The site shows a bunch of Apple commands to Siri’s information menu. This is how the new feature works: users ask for tickets to the movie of their choice, then, click the buy movie tickets button and they will be routed to finish their purchase by way of the Fandango app from the App Store. If the user does not have Fandango installed, Siri provides a button to download the Fandango app.
Apparently, this feature will only be available to those of us in the United States. However, not every movie theater will be compatible with the new feature. That being said, theaters who are listed by Siri will show a small movie tickets icon right beside it. It’s puzzling why Apple felt compelled to not include this ticket functionality in its big iOS 6 update a couple of months back.
We have no clue when Apple plans to roll this update out, but we’re sure it can’t be too far off.
