We’ve seen a number of different battery chargers in our days. What makes the Eton BoostTurbine is that it can power-up your gadgets even in places where there’s no power outlet around.

The device comes in a sturdy aluminum box with 4 blue LEDs to indicate how much charge the battery pack has. There’s a built-in 1,000mAh or 2,000mAh battery that can be charged either using a standard USB-to-microUSB cable or (check this out) manually, using the built in hand crank that pops out on the press of the button. We hope you’ll never need to use that crank but it’s better to be ready just in case things seriously go wrong. Perhaps you’ll need one of these on your trip to sub-Saharan Africa, though there you’re better off using one of those solar-powered chargers.

Anyhow, a minute of cranking will provide about 30 seconds of power for your phone. So if you do want to use this charger, you’ll easily build up some amazing arm muscles while providing the so much needed juice for your gadgets.

As we said, the Eton BoostTurbine comes in two flavors – the one with a 1,000mAh battery could be yours for $49.99, while the model with 2,000mAh battery is selling for $59.99.
