Sony has officially announced the Xperia A in Japan where it will be sold by NTT DoCoMo, the country’s leading mobile operator. The device we’ve already seen at the FCC is a high-end Android 4.1 smartphone with specs that include a 4.6-inch 720p HD screen, LTE connectivity support, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon S4 Pro CPU, 13-megapixel rear camera, VGA front-facing one and a 2,300mAh battery.

Of course, we would appreciate an even faster (newer) processor like Snapdragon 600, but I guess the lack of it will push the price down. In any case, we’ve no idea whether this particular Sony smartphone will ever make it to the West. If that happens — and it did get the regulatory approval to be sold in the U.S. — we’ll get back to you with more details. Stay tuned in the meantime, k?
