Facebook for iOS update brings restaurant reservations

Facebook just updated its app allowing users to book restaurant reservations, thanks to OpenTable integration. The way it works is simple. All FB users have to do is going to a restaurant’s Page, there a person can choose a date and time, and specify the party size he or she chooses as this is available by way of a list. The best part about this feature besides its convenience, is the fact that you don’t need a OpenTable account to use it.

This feature also has safeguards in place for when you accidentally book a reservation or happen to change your mind, as it’s just one tap away to cancel the engagement. As you can see below, I pulled up one of my favorite local restaurants to give it a test.

A feature like this does a lot for Facebook as the social media giant seeks alternative ways to keep folks on their site. FB is trying to make head waves in converting its large user base into more advertising dollars. Personally, I will definitely give this a test run as the new feature also plays nice with both Yelp and Foursquare.

Any of you out there plan on giving this a try?
