Gogo, the company that enables in-flight Wi-Fi, is teaming-up with Glympse to provide passengers on any Gogo-equipped aircraft with the ability to share their location with their friends as they travel across the country.
The best part is that you’ll only have to share your location once, with Glympse taking care of the rest, allowing person on the other end to check the plane’s current movement and status, including speed and a continually updated arrival time. In other words, after the Glympse is sent, you can power down your phone or laptop, and let Glympse do the rest, while folks awaiting for your arrival can better coordinate ground transportation.
Passengers can access the Glympse In-flight feature from within the Glympse smartphone app or via Web browser at inflight.glympse.com.
Inside the Glympse mobile app, all you have to do is select any email or any U.S. or Canada phone number as a recipient, and you’re good to go. The Android app with this capability will be out today, whereas the iOS one will be available next week.
