If you’re an Android smartphone user who is still stuck on Android Gingerbread, you may find yourself out of luck when it comes to app compatibility. Gingerbread is quite an old build of Android at this point, but its far from out with over 20% of Android devices still running on the build. BlackBerry is extending its reach to Android device users by updating the BBM messaging app to support devices running on Android 2.3 Gingerbread.
That’s great news for users of BBM, and could prove to be some great news for the struggling BlackBerry. The Canadian company is definitely down but not out after taking a pummeling in 2013.
