And we thought the Huawei Ascend P6 was thin? Then we’ve seen the 5.75mm-thin Vivo X3; and now another Chinese firm is out with an even thinner handset. Ladies and gentlemen, at 5.5mm the Gionee Elife S5.5 is the latest device to take the world’s thinnest smartphone title!
It’s also a pretty solid phone with specs that include 5-inch screen of unknown resolution (likely 720p HD), unspecified (MediaTek?) quad-core processor clocked at 1.7GHz, 2GB of RAM, 13-megapixel rear and 5-megapixel front cameras, and a solid (for such thin phone) 2300mAh battery.
Unfortunately, LTE radio doesn’t come included but that’s somewhat expected from a device with price tag of around $370. The 4G version is in the pipeline and will be out in June. No word whether the Elife S5.5 will ever be available outside of China. So if you want one, you’ll have to get it from some importer. Presuming you fancy paper-thin phones, it could be well worth the effort. What do you say?
