Sprint LG G2 Android 4.4.2 KitKat Update Rolling Out Now

LG G2 owners on Sprint’s network will be receiving a significant update soon, one that will bring their rear-button toting devices the newest version of Android KitKat, 4.4.2. While the update is rolling out OTA beginning today, the update could take a few days to land on your device, so be patient.

Sprint’s changelog doesn’t really show much about the update, just that Android 4.4.2 is in tow as well as a fix for an audio issue with Next Radio. That’s good news for Sprint owners, who won’t be seeing a ton of bloatware when the update arrives.

Android 4.4.2 KitKat brings a number of improvements to the LG G2, including immersive mode, a new home launcher and even SMS support in the Hangouts app.

Keep an eye on your device for an update notification which should be arriving soon.

That leaves Verizon as the only major U.S. carrier that has yet to announce the rollout of Android 4.4 KitKat for the LG G2. AT&T, T-Mobile and now Sprint have updated LG’s 2013 flagship smartphone to KitKat, leaving Big Red in the dust. This is nothing new, as Verizon usually takes their sweet time approving updates for release.
