Apple keeps acquiring companies left and right to make its products better. Their latest target is speech recognition technology company called Novauris.

As that’s usually the case with Apple’s acquisitions, terms of the deal were not disclosed, but it’s only obvious that Cupertino boys want to use Novauris’ technology to “help” Siri better understand what you’re saying.

Siri, which is using speech-recognition technology from Nuance, has yet to live up to its promise. According to some reports, up to 4 out of 5 iPhone owners haven’t used the built-in virtual assistant, which for many feels like work in progress.

Novauris’ tech can work both with locally stored content and remotely on servers, making it a perfect “add-on” for Siri. The company’s founders have been involved in this sector for quite some time and we’re sure they could help Apple turn Siri into something every iDevice owner will want to use regularly.

Now we just have to wait and see how Siri gets better…
