Thus far, Phonebloks’ concept of a modular phone has been adopted by few companies, including Motorola (now Google – Project Ara), ZTE (Eco-Mobius) and Xiaomi. The folks behind the idea are obviously glad to see so many players expressing interest for this amazing idea.

However, they now want to expand the concept and include other devices to the mix. We’re talking about computers, tablets, TVs and even washing machines. Why in the world would we have to throw away some device just because one part is not working at that moment. That doesn’t sound right and it’s ecologically irresponsible. Alas, most companies don’t care what’s going on with their e-waste.

Phonebloks is looking to change that and is now inviting partners which would be interested to participate in the making of the modular electronics world.

Right from the bet they got Sennheiser on their side, which is a German audio company with experience making headphones, microphones and other such products for both professional and consumer use.

Going forward they would like to see more electronics makers signing-up to build various blocks that could be used across devices.

Sounds amazing when you think about it. Here’s a short promo video to get you in the “modular state of mind.” 😉
