Samsung is teaming-up with Marvel to bring some superhero love to its army of users all around the world. Under the global multi-medium partnership, we’ll see the Korean company preloading Marvel’s content and services on its devices, and getting product placements deals in some of the upcoming blockbusters based on Marvel’s heroes. The press release specifically mentioned Avengers: Age of Ultron, which will hit the theaters at some point next year. So yes, we expect to see Iron Man and perhaps even Captain America using Samsung mobile devices.
On the other hand, Sammy will be preloading some of Marvel stuff on its devices. Something like that has already started with the newly unveiled Galaxy Tab S series, with those purchasing any of the two new tablets getting three free months of subscription services for Marvel Unlimited. This includes access to Marvel’s vast digital comic library.
Finally, the two companies will also be working on developing Marvel-branded mobile devices. Want the smartphone Tony Stark is using? No problem. Want Captain America-branded tablet? That could be out as well.
Overall, this is yet another win for Samsung’s marketing department that should further cement the company’s position as the world’s biggest mobile phone maker.
It’s worth adding that HTC was also looking for a deal with Marvel, having launch the HTC One M8 Limited Edition Captain America S.H.I.E.L.D. variant. Alas, the Taiwanese company doesn’t have the resources and scale as much as Samsung does to benefit from this kind of partnership.
