Android L is a go, with factory images for the Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 going live today. Android L, which was shown off at Google I/O yesterday is looking sharp, with a visual redesign at the heart of the build.
In order to install the Android L preview on your Nexus 5 or Nexus 7 you’re going to need a few things before getting started. You’re going to want to make sure that ADB and Fastboot are installed on your PC, and that you’ve done a full backup of your Android device. The process requires your device be wiped clean before install, and it’d be a shame if you lost all those sweet selfies in the process.
Today’s release is a very early build of Android L, so expect a few bugs after you’ve installed the image. It’s not really intended for daily use, just a way for developers and curious Android fans to check out what Google has been up to. If a more robust version of Android L is what you’re looking for, you could always wait for ROMs based on the build to surface, which should happen within the next few weeks. As for an official release, we’ll have to wait until the fall for that.

As always, happy flashing!
