A company called Com1 is looking to take on the Android Wear market with a little help of crowdfunding. So it turned to Indiegogo to raise funds for its low-cost smart watch that is sold for anywhere between $125 and $170.
Unfortunately, this is a square-shaped device that doesn’t look as sexy as Moto 360, or LG G Watch R for that matter. Rather, it resembles the original LG G Watch, but for the amount asked, you’ll definitely get great value for money.
The watch is powered by a 1GHz XBurst-based Ingenic JZ4775 processor, while boasting all of the usual sensors Android Wear devices have, including gyroscope, accelerometer, magnetometer, pedometer, GPS, heart rate sensor, as well as a pressure, humidity and temperature sensors. There’s also a 1.6-inch AMOLED screen with 320×320 pixels resolution, and a 400mAh battery that should keep the Com1 working for up to 2 days.
All this comes in an IP67-certified metal-clad body which is made either out of aluminum or stainless steel, depending on the model.
Com1 is expected to ship in January, and if you want to help — and get yourself a smart watch — you can do that from this page.
UPDATE: The campaign has been pulled following a rights infringment complaint by Google. Guess not everyone can make an Android Wear watches, after all. 🙁
