Chromebook Users Can Transfer Files From Android Devices Thanks to New Update

Chromebooks are awesome little devices, but they’re still a little bit shy of being fully fledged computers. A new update edges Chromebooks a little closer to gaining all of the powers of a normal PC by allowing users to plug in their Android devices and sync files via MTP. Just connect your Android device to your Chromebook and you’ll be able to transfer to your heart’s content.

The update is rolling out as we speak, and should land on Chrome OS devices soon. Unfortunately, Chromeboxes won’t be getting the update yet.

I got my first Chromebook about six months ago and am pleasantly surprised at how functional the device is. There are some limitations however, and file transfers between devices is one of them. For everyday web usage, Chromebooks are great, but Google’s OS needs to grow up a bit before it can replace your Windows or Mac machine.

Be on the lookout for the update to land on your Chromebook in the next few days.
