After a bit of a delay, Android Lollipop is finally beginning its rollout to Google Play Edition HTC One M7 and M8 units. The update is on its way OTA, and brings Android 5.0.1 to the table.
This update’s bound to be a big one so make sure you’ve connected your device to WiFi and are all charged up before you install it, unless you’ve got spare data to burn. You’ll receive a notification on your device once the update is ready, or you could always do it the old-fashioned way and check for the update manually. For that just head to settings, hit the About Phone category and select System Update.
The release of Lollipop to Google Play Edition devices inches us ever closer to the release of Lollipop on carrier branded M7 and M8 units. That could happen at any time now, but I wouldn’t hold my breath since every carrier must approve the update at this point. We should see Lollipop land on carrier branded handsets by the end of the year.
Happy updating, and be sure to let us know how you’re liking your Lollipop!
M8 GPE Owners! We just received TA from Google!! I am very grateful for all your patience. OTA to start at noon on 12/5 (working to pull in)
