Even though most of the world still can’t get Xiaomi’s tablet, the company is preparing to launch its successor, the MiPad 2.
According to GizmoChina, Xiaomi’s next slate will dump ARM-based Nvidia Tegra chip for the one made by Intel. Specs will apparently include a 1.8GHz Atom SoC, the same 7.9-inch screen with 2,048×1,536 pixels resolution, and 2GB of RAM. It is said that Android 4.4 KitKat with MIUI OS will run the show right from the get-go, with Lollipop update coming later in the year (2015).
We’re still not sure when the Mi Pad 2 will be officially launched, but chances are this will be a short wait. Perhaps, Xiaomi uses the upcoming CES to show the world what it can do, or perhaps they stick with their “Asia only” plan and postpone conquering of the Western hemisphere for some other time. In any case, we’re looking forward to an amazing event in Las Vegas when many of the world’s top brands will be unveiling new products. Stay tuned as we bring you more…
