Vivo Y500 global launch appears closer as three variants receive Bluetooth certification

Vivo appears to be preparing a wider international rollout of its Y500 smartphone. The device has now surfaced on the Bluetooth SIG certification database, revealing three separate global variants carrying the model numbers V2627, V2634, and V2635. All three models are listed under the Vivo Y500 branding, despite having different model numbers.

The certification itself does not disclose any hardware specifications beyond Bluetooth connectivity support, but it does indicate that Vivo is actively working on multiple versions of the handset for different markets. The differences could be related to market-specific features or regional requirements.

This development comes months after Vivo introduced the Y500 in China last September. Certification activity often signals that an announcement could be approaching, especially as Vivo looks to compete in the increasingly crowded mid-range smartphone market. The global smartphone market has seen intense competition in this segment, with brands focusing on standout features to differentiate their offerings.

If Vivo follows its usual strategy, the global Y500 models could retain most of the specifications of the Chinese version. In that case, buyers can expect a feature-packed mid-range smartphone with a strong emphasis on battery life – a key selling point in today’s market where users demand longer-lasting devices.

The Vivo Y500 launched in China with impressive specifications for its price range:

  • 6.77-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate and HDR10+ support
  • MediaTek Dimensity 7300 chipset
  • Up to 12GB of LPDDR4X RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage
  • Android 15 with Vivo’s OriginOS 15

One of the biggest highlights of the Y500 is its massive 8,200mAh battery. Vivo has used semi-solid-state battery technology to achieve this large capacity while maintaining a relatively slim 8.23mm profile. The battery supports 90W fast charging as well as reverse wired charging, allowing the phone to function as a power bank for other devices.

This battery capacity represents a significant step forward in the mid-range segment. While large batteries have become more common, with brands offering 7,000mAh as standard, the Vivo Y500 pushes boundaries with its 8,200mAh capacity. This could be particularly appealing as consumers increasingly prioritize battery life over other features.

On the camera front, the Y500 features a 50MP primary sensor alongside a 2MP depth sensor and an 8MP front-facing camera. Vivo also includes its Aura Light system to improve portrait photography in low-light conditions. While the camera setup appears standard for the segment, Vivo’s Aura Light system could offer a noticeable advantage for portrait photography enthusiasts.

The Vivo Y500 could be particularly attractive for users where battery life is a top priority. The combination of a large AMOLED display, capable Dimensity 7300 chipset, high-capacity battery, and fast charging could appeal to heavy users, frequent travelers, and mobile gamers looking for reliable endurance.

However, since we only have certification details so far, it remains unclear if Vivo plans to offer the same specifications as the Chinese variant for global markets. The company has not yet confirmed pricing or availability for international markets.
