POCO X8 Power tipped to launch with a 10,000mAh battery and a price above Rs. 30,000

Ten thousand milliamp-hours. That’s a lot of battery, and POCO might be betting everything on it. A fresh tip suggests the brand is working on a new ‘Power’ variant under its X8 lineup, creatively called the POCO X8 Power, and the headline spec is exactly what you’d expect from that name. But there’s more going on here than just a big battery.

According to The Tech Outlook, tipster Sanju Choudhary has shared a fairly detailed breakdown of the alleged device. The POCO X8 Power is said to feature a 6.83-inch 1.5K AMOLED display running at up to 120Hz with 3840Hz PWM dimming, which is great news for anyone sensitive to screen flicker. Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 is reportedly on protection duty. Inside, the phone is tipped to run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 5, paired with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage. One catch: the base variant might ship with the slower UFS 2.2 storage instead, so watch out for that when configurations are confirmed.

The full rumored spec sheet looks like this:

  • 6.83-inch 1.5K AMOLED, 120Hz, 3840Hz PWM dimming
  • Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2
  • Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 5
  • LPDDR5X RAM, UFS 4.0 storage (UFS 2.2 on lower variant)
  • 10,000mAh battery with 100W fast charging
  • IP68/IP69 rating
  • Four Android OS upgrades and six years of security updates

That software commitment is actually a big deal. Four OS upgrades and six years of security patches put this phone in the same conversation as flagships when it comes to longevity, and that matters a lot if you’re spending over Rs. 30,000. The tipster confirmed in a comments thread that the X8 Power won’t be priced under that mark, which positions it as a mid-to-upper-mid-range device.

Here’s where things get interesting. When a user asked Choudhary whether the POCO X8 Power is essentially the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max, the reply was ‘Yes indirectly.’ The Note 17 series is confirmed to launch globally on August 27th, and its confirmed specs, including the 10,000mAh battery, 100W charging, Snapdragon 6 Gen 5, 6.83-inch display, and IP68/IP69 rating, line up almost perfectly with what’s been tipped for the X8 Power. So this is almost certainly a rebadging situation, which is standard practice for Xiaomi across its brands.

That’s not necessarily a bad thing. Xiaomi has done this for years across POCO, Redmi, and its own lineup. The real question is what POCO does with pricing and availability to justify the X8 Power as a separate product. If it lands at a lower price than the Note 17 Pro Max or comes with India-specific offers, it could make real sense for buyers here.

Still, all of this is unconfirmed. POCO hasn’t said a word officially, and tipster leaks can miss the mark. Take the specs, the price hint, and the Redmi connection as solid leads rather than guarantees. Once the Note 17 series drops on August 27th, we’ll have a much clearer picture of what the X8 Power might actually look like.
